It took a good two hours to reach Logrono and another hour and a half to reach the other side. Logrono is a fair sized city and many people trekked on yesterday and stayed there rather than stopping in Viana. The way was not so well marked thru the city and I had to ask several times. I found a pharmacy and bought a different knee brace. The one I purchased in Viana was a tube style and kept rolling down.
The walk today was much less hilly than previous days - a welcome relief. It took about 7 hours to walk just under 14 miles today. That's certainly an improvement over yesterday but still pretty slow.
As I walked today I thought about how small modern transportation has made our world feel. I walked +-14 miles and it took all my energy and nearly an entire workday. I could see my destination from where I began, and I could have driven it in a quarter of an hour. The entire Camino (the route I'm traveling known as Camino Frances) is approximately 500 miles and could be driven in a day. Yet, it takes the average person more than a month to walk.
Today is was my fifth day of walking. I'm now halfway thru my solo trek, and I look forward to the next five. Tomorrow I'm on to Najera, and at less than 11 miles, my shortest mileage day!

lynn Yay for a shorter day, and for being half way. I was thinking today that Kilamanjaro would have been a far easier trek! Not that you were looking for easy. Hope you rest very well. We are all thinking about you. Love you Kendall.
Diane You are amazing, Kendall!! Here's to an enjoyable and pain-free day tomorrow. I love your insights and will benefit from them. Tony and I are thinking of you and wishing you the best.
