Another long day. It took us 7.5 miles to reach Palas de Rei only to discover our hotel was not in town but a rural location about 5.5 miles north of town. We walked in the rain the last half hour to reach Palas de Rei and were not happy to discover our hotel was not nearby. As we rode in the taxi we decided we would just collect our bags, which had been delivered by the service earlier in the day, and go back into town and get a room. When we arrived at Casa Camino the hosts Sue & Kim were so welcoming and the facility so lovely, we changed our minds and decided to stay.
The hotel is a very old farmhouse and livestock shelter that the hosts purchased in ruin and spent four years renovating. They did a fabulous job. It is quite unique with large rooms beautifully decorated. It has the original rock perimeter walls and everything else appears to be new.
Our dinner is being prepared for us now! Wow.
This is Jim.
Kendall was right to make us stay here 5 milesfrom town. It is a wonderful bed, breakfast and dinner place.
I have now walked two days for roughly 30 miles or 7 hours per day. I am here to say, both days were very long walks. So I want to do a big Shout Out for Kendall that has now walked for 12 days. That is a very long walk!! I will do my six days and be done for life. Today we met at guy that walked it last year for 39 days from France to the Spanish coast and is doin it again this year because he enjoyed it so much. Go figure!!

Charlene Good job guys and it's nice that you got a little treat at the end of a long walk, even if it was a little off course. Jim, your thoughts do not surprise me and just make me smile! I hope you both have a pleasant walk to the end and know that back home we are all cheering for you! Can't wait to hear all the specifics. Both of you take care and try and have a little FUN!
Lou Here's a shout out to you both for doing this walk.....even for one day. The walk around Beaver Lake is going to feel so simple after this adventure! See you in May.
Diane What a cool room! I love all your pictures. Twelve days of walking sounds unimaginable to me. You're amazing, Kendall! And lucky to have Jim jump right in there with you. We can't wait to hear about it in person. Have fun, and stay strong!
