I'm so happy to be where I am right now! It took me an amazing 8 hours to walk today! This is hard for me to believe. I stopped for about 15 minutes for lunch (an apple!) and maybe 10 minutes late in the day. The guide book says its 21.9km or 13.6 miles. This is less distance than yesterday - 15 miles. My Fitbit says today's mileage was more than yesterday. Oh well what difference does it make?
As I saw Villafuerta in the distance today I thought it was my destination of Estella but sadly it wasn't and I had another 7.5 km to go! Ouch. I have to confess I shed a few tears and that last 7.5 km was really tough and in the rain!
As I walked up and then down hill after hill today I thought how disappointed I am that are ancestors were wrong and the world is not flat!
So, I didn't want to say yesterday but I had selected an hostel based on the guidebook's info that it was a private facility, it had single rooms, and at €40 it was the most expensive. I figured it had a good chance of being nice. It wasn't. I went to bed without showering and slept in my clothes. Today I seriously considered a hotel but really felt like I'd be cheating a bit if I did. Instead I looked for a hostel listed in the guidebook a bit father in to town and figured I could change my mind if I didn't like the look of it. It's associated with a monastery and is fabulous! It's clean and bright, has heat, a WASHING machine and dryer. I man cooked my dinner... Omg! I'm so happy. Well, really really tired and every single bit of me hurts...
If I can move tomorrow I'm on to Los Arcos. Did I mention my pack is at least 6 lbs overweight (& that's without water

Ryan Go mom! Not to be the worrier (but you know I'm the worrier), but maybe you should be eating more than an apple for lunch. You don't want to be the unconscious from low blood sugar hiker that everyone trips over. Just saying. I think you're doing great though! It sounds really tough and you're kicking butt. We love and miss you!
Jim Eight hours of walking especially difficult terrain is a real trek. I know half how tired you feel. I did four hours Sunday for practice and it was a very long and tiring walk. Go sweetheart!!!
lynn Wow Kendall, that sounds really tough. I am concerned about your lack of decent nutrition. I hope u took the emergency packets I gave you. Would be good to have in your water! Just getting back from Linville. Looks beautiful there. Hope you find similar accommodations tonight! Lu.
Esther You are amazing! I'm so glad you got a good meal and nice digs to rest your tired body. Hope today's walk was flat and rain free xoxo
Michael Hester We are pulling for you. And proud of you. What a great journey inward and outward. Look forward to hearing about it Each day!
