It probably should now be Kendall & Jim walk. It took 7 hours to walk the 14.5 miles from Sarria to Portomarian and we stopped about a half hour for lunch. Our time wasn't bad and it was hilly. The "newbie," as Esther referred to Jim, did just fine. He walked ahead of me most of the day. And, five minutes after arriving at our hotel he was sound asleep! It took me about 4 days to really get conditioned to walking so long.
It was a challenging walk. Much of the path was very muddy and sometimes the roadbed seemed more like a creekbed with a constant stream of water flowing. It was overcast all day and a steady rain began about 30 minutes before we reached Portomarian.
The scenery was really picturesque today. Much of my path to Burgos was thru farmland - large commercial looking fields of crops. Today the land seemed more lush with family oriented farms and beautiful cattle.
Tomorrow's walk to Palas de Rei will be a bit farther (15.4) but not quite so hilly. After tomorrow the mileage will be lower and we should be fine.

lynn Fabulous! So happy for the two of you. Awesome photo!
Esther Cartwright Yay! Will Dad now admit that walking the trail is different than walking from AvL to Orlando? love and miss you guys xoxo
Ryan Woohoo! Sounds like fun. If Jim is out walking you, maybe he'll give you a piggy back ride. Make sure everyone has cream in the right places so there's no blisters. Stay strong. Love you both.
