Happiness Is The Road
After a very leisurely breakfast we set off to see the beaches and stunning coastline near Esperance. The weather was gorgeous. It was about 18 degrees with a clear blue sky. We went to the Rotary lookout on the edge of the town first and Jay got her first taste of how spectacular this area is. From the lookout we could see the beautiful islands off the coast, Esperance town and the stunning bays and beaches with turquoise waters and lovely white sand. Whilst here we got talking to a lovely couple from Perth. It was their first time in Esperance and like us they were in awe of how beautiful the place is. After this we went to West Beach and had a walk along the pristine white sand and paddled in the sea. The water was a bit cold but lovely. It was so wonderful to be back here and seeing the same things again but this time with Jay. The beaches in Esperance are said to be the best in Australia and I have to agree. The sand is soft and fine and white and the sea is gorgeously clear. It was paradise here today with Jay. We then drove further along to Blue Haven. We had some lunch here and then walked down the steps to the gorgeous bay. It was indeed a blue haven made all the more better because we had the beach completely and utterly to ourselves. It was bliss. We then drove a bit further down the coast, marvelling at the intense beauty of the place and stopped at Twilight Beach. When I was last here the temperature was in the high thirties and it was absolutely rammed. Today we had the place virtually to ourselves. We had a walk along the beach here and paddled in the sea again. We then drove further down to the Observatory lookout where we walked up the steps to the lookout to admire the dramatic view. We also walked up and down a load more steps to the beach. As time was now getting on we followed the road around and inland to have a look at Pink Lake. We had expected a glistening sheen of barbie doll pink water so we were disappointed to see that it looked like a very ordinary lake. Our visit unfortunately didn't coincide with the right amount of salinity, temperature and light needed to turn the water pink. Time was now getting on so we went back to the caravan park to relax for a bit and have our tea. We will be going back to the Esperance coast on another day to explore some different beaches as they are just so amazing. There were too many of them to see in one day.
