Happiness Is The Road
After brekky we went to Woolworths to get some food and then we hit the road out of Townsville. The weather was hot and sunny. We took the highway further north and stopped at the Paluma Range National Park. We had a short walk here to the Paradise Waterhole and took in the view. We are in crocodile country now and are definitely going to keep clear of these savage beasts. The salt water crocodiles or salties are just plain nasty. It was unlikely though that this water was croc infested as there was no warning sign. Next we hit the road again with the intention of getting up as far as Tully about 150 kilometres away. The scenery on the way was dominated by field after field of sugar cane. These are killing fields. They grow a huge quantity of this toxic poison called sugar up in Queensland. It has been proved that (1) sugar is a major factor in dental decay, (2) sugar in a person's diet does cause overweight and (3) removal of sugar from diets has cured symptoms of crippling, worldwide diseases such as diabetes, cancer and heart illnesses. We continue to avoid buying anything that contains sugar. As we got nearer to Tully the weather turned more and more cloudy and then it started spitting. This came as no surprise to us as we have read that Tully is the wettest town in Australia. Apparently it is also the UFO capital as well. We had found a camp site at Tully Heads which was near the coast and we headed there. It was a lovely quiet place and we got a great secluded spot. We chilled here in bliss for the rest of the day. We went to sleep to the sound of the rain belting it down on the camper van roof. Tully was wet and living up to it's name rain wise. We didn't see a UFO!
