Seumas really wanted to go and have a look at the tea plantations in Ox, which we had never heard of vegore so we went straight off to search for them. The main one is called Nerada Tea Plantatioin, but when we arrived there it was closed so as it was something Seumas really wanted to do we spent the night in a place called Yungaburra.
In Yungaburra there is a Platypus viewing platform! We were very lucky as when we arrived the platypus came out of it's den and was playing in the water. They're a lot smaller than I thought they would be but still very weird.
The next day we wet back to the Tea plantation. When we got there we found out that to have a tour we needed 3 other people there. This wasn't a matter to us because we had a chat to the person in the gift shop who then talked to the manager after learning that Seumas lives on a tea plantation.
We got a private tour around the factory which was amazing! Seuams was really interested in how the two proceses differ (his factory and this one). At the factory there were tree Kangaroos! This was really cool, especially as I hadn't heard of them before. Such cute animals just huddled together from the rain.
From the tea factory we went to a place called Innot hot sprins. These are hot springs that bubble up next to a creek so if you dug a deep hole then diverted a part of the stream, the temperature would be just right. We couldn't really be bothered to go through this process so we just tried to boil an egg in the water. It didn't work too well at all...
From there we went to try and see some lava tubes. We didn't manage to go on a tour (which would have been way to expensive anyway) as there weren't any running that day. The walking yourself tour was far too long in the time we had so sadly we didn't do any.
On the way out of the lava tubes road, we picked up a hitch hiker who was heading the same way as us. His name is Stefan Zawada and he had so many amazing stories of what he had done in his life! He's 65 years old and is a chef. Unfortunately he has cancer and his daughter had died recently so he was travelling Australia until he died... Very sad but such an amazing character.
We drove along the road until it was time to set up camp, so we looked on our phones and found one. We didn't realise how beautiful it would be. The camp site is right on a lake full of birds. Such a different array of them over a fairly large area. Later that evening after a very amazing sunset, Stefan showed us all the frogs around and also 2 brown snakes! They were both just on the edge of the lake and both slithered away quite quickly. We then all had some beers while having a really interesting chat about life and the world. Such an interesting person!
