Our last day of touring the Perth area brought us to beautiful Freemantle. When you go to places like this you actually wonder what the hell are doing in Victoria with our beaches. This place is laid out to perfection. Serena drove us down there and we met up with her friend Alsiha who lived down that way some time ago. We spent a lunch at Little Creatures Brewery. Hence Shirl smashing a cold beer in the pic. Shirl arrived on a flight yesterday and was going to ride shotgun with Johny on the 1150. This placed rocked and was packed to the rafters. Not only did it have beer it also made the stuff. I would have been happy to die right then and there. After the lunch we had a dock walk which brought us to the bronze statue of the legendary Bon Scott. (Original lead singer from ACDC who dies from acute alcohol poisoning at arounf 33 years of age. Almost ironic they put his statue right where they make beer. From this we find out that he is buried in Freemantle cemetary. This is now a have to go to place. We did a walk through the main part of town and it had a real street jive about it. It wasn't too different from the french section of New Orleans with a cross of Ackland St St Kilda. Atmosphere to its extreme. We found a great map shop where I obtained a huge map of Australia. We also found a great mural on a toilet wall which the artist completed using a pen. It was huge with a very intricate detail.
Finally we went to the legends grave. We had no idea where he was in this huge cemetary but good old google soon gave us the co-ordinates. We got to the general area and could see people photographing a plaque. Obviously this was the place. This is the most visited grave in Australia. The blog on this location also states that many people came and sat here alongside the grave and drank cans of alcohol with Bon. Don't know he would go with that particurlarily when it attributed to his current status. However there were guitar picks and cans and smoke butts all around his grave.
That night we went to the "Paddington Ale House" for dinner. We were instructed that we could not wear thongs in there after 8pm. Our options were to eat quick or throw our thongs out of the pub at 8. Fortunately for our feets sake we ate quick and left with our thongs in place. Another great day was had and what I would say was amore livable city than Melbourne.
