What a truly memorable day! Tomo we salute you! You are a first class gent and they broke the mould when they made you.
A tricky start to the day with a mad dash up the A30. Fortunately only one junction and only one mile. Thank goodness we haven't chosen this as our route all the way to Land's End.
Back on the quiet road we met Jim Cole, an athletic young man with a 1:09 half- marathon time. He made sure we had the shortest route to Tavistock.
The road took us up and over the western edge of Dartmoor. We were glad the wind was behind and the weather fair - not much of a view but beautiful all the same.
A long run down then a rest 4 miles before our final boarder and a long awaited appointment with Tomo.
Through Tavistock and up and over some steep hills and then as we worked our way down a quad bashing country lane we heard the sound of the pipes. We ran out of the woods and onto an old stone bridge across the Tamar were Tomo stood - in the middle - in full scottish regalia playing The Grand Old Duke of York on the bagpipes to welcome us into Cornwall. What a sight - and what an experience - after 770 miles! We posed for pics then arranged to meet at a pub for a break a short way further up the hill.
In the car park we met Chris, who taught us how to pronounce St Ive! Inside the pub we met Hilary and Nikki who very generously made a donation. Hilary's husband had cycled End to End several times - even once on a Chopper bike!
A celebratory drink and packet of crisps with Tomo in the pub and he piped us on our way again. He even piped Greg and the van off! Tomo you are one in a million and we will never forget our piped entry into Cornwall.
I would like to say that it feels down hill all the way now but in reality it is the exact opposite. Hills hills hills now we fear and the downs are as painful as the ascents. As we lie in the van recovering we have covered 780 miles with only 80 miles to go. Two and a half more days running. We hope to finish at Land's End around 3.00pm on Monday.
Onwards and upwards as they say!

Cliff Keen Cornwall is my favourite place to go running; I just love those country lanes, bendy roads and full-on hills. A couple of years ago I was the M50 Sticker 5-mile champion (that's Sticker, near St.Austell). It's a great run if you can fit it in, they even give each finisher a pasty. Enjoy your final couple of days (and the hills).
Terri Shotton Well done, John and Peter! I'm thrilled to see you are still going well with the help of your man friday, Gregg! Not long now - my goodness, you are both amazing! It was great to see you all last w/end and looking forward to next Weds. at the Club. Best wishes Terri S
