Friday 25th June
A good day with two must do's ticked of the list. We arrived at Paronella Park early which was good because later it became busy, the small car park was full as we left and the size of the tour groups looked too large to hear the guide or take photos so for once we got our timing right and was in a small group with a very good guide with a loud voice.I wouldn't describe the visit as a life enhancing experience but it was very interesting and worth seeing.I had in mind Disney on a small scale but it was like???Sorry I can't really describe it and suggest you look at their website.
Later on the way between the park and Cairns we turned of the highway to The Banbinda Boulders I hope the photos do the area justice. It was such a contrast between the man made Paronella and natures work the Boulders.
We are bunkered down tonight in a cabin on a caravan site at Fishery Falls. The temperature reached 27 today and we had our first swim of the trip in the camp pool.We have had some significant showers this evening and more rain is forecast for tomorrow when we make our way to Cairns where we have booked into the only 5* caravan site in Australia. Saturday 26th. June
A rare day for us, a rest day when we did nothing. We shopped this morning, booked into our 5* caravan park at lunch time, did the washing and had a swim. We have just returned from tea at Sizzlers. Doe's the park live up to its 5*?Yes for the facilities but for our en suite cabin ,no, more like 3*The gardens around are lovely, everything is clean and tidy , the washer actually washed the clothes clean and the dryer did a great job which on a caravan site is rarer than hens teeth. It is child heaven but although there are lots of children here it's quiet and with 2 large pools and a water park there was plenty of room for us to swim. The cabin is basic and tired but it is clean and well equipped.Weather wise it has been our worst day but tomorrow looks better at 28 degrees and dry.
