Monday 12th July
Our last night on the road we should be home tomorrow afternoon. We are in Gladstone in the best motel we have been in so we are finishing on a high note.We arrived a bit later than we intended in the dark but Karen our ever faithful sat nav proved her worth once more and delivered us safe and sound. Tonight we have 2 rooms, full kitchen and lovely bathroom I am going to stay here tomorrow until the 10 o'clock deadline to savour the moment. We intended to stop at Sarina for lunch but as we neared the town we saw restaurantsadvertised at Sarina beach so gullible to the end we drove the 13ks to the beach and yes you are ahead of me here, they wasn't open.Summing up the trip what have I enjoyed (Joe can speak for himself)snorkelling at the barrier reef , Kuranda railway, Paronella park, the café in the Daintree and although I didn't like Cooktown and Cape Tribulation as places I loved the feeling of a connection to James Cook probably because we have studied Australian history a bit.I won't bother about the disappointments like someone once said they are consigned to the dustbin of history I think he was talking about Lenin but why shouldn't it apply to our tripHope you enjoyed the journey with us and its back to normal life.
