What a miserable start to the day with visibility down to a few yards and a fine drizzle.Yesterday while having lunch we noticed the café was open at 8.15am for breakfast and as we were not happy about the cleanliness of our accommodation we decided to go for breakfast and you will have guessed where this is going, not open. We decided against the scenic route and waterfalls because of the poor visibility and went straight to Ravenshoe said Ravens hoe not Raven shoe as we were pronouncing it.We had more luck there and had a choice of 4 cafes.On the way to the hot springs we saw Millstream Falls Australia's widest falls.The hot springs were a disappointment especially after the ones we have been to in NZ and the Northern Territory.The actually hot spring is a trickle impossible to swim in and the Innit Hot Springs pools are in desperate need of renovation and is another place for sale.The water is very hot and there are no guides as to what temperature the water is.We are in Mt Garnet staying on a van park in a Nissan hut not certain wether it is circa ww1 or ww2 but it is clean and better than some places we have stayed.The problem is when you turn up at these places you are stuck because in these small towns there is usually nothing else.Tomorrow we travel 130ks to the Lava Tubes then back here for another night.
