Friday 2nd July
It rained hard during the night and early morning and we got wet for the first time on this trip but we soon dried. It was overcast all day and we had a heavy shower at lunchtime. The temp was a measly 24.First stop was Mossman Gorge a very popular place with inadequate parking but worth the effort if you have to park a distance away. The first part to the swing bridge is a fairly easy walk but not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers they are constructing a raised walkway to solve the problem which should be ready next year.We did the 2k circuit walk which is really only for seasoned hikers like wot we are!!Lots of people even young families not just macho youths ignored the dangerous water/no swimming signs and were in the river
It was 2pm before we got to Daintree Village which was a bit disappointing. The tourist blurb makes it sound like a thriving village with lots of shops and cafes but not so.There are 3 cafes on the village but one is closed and for sale. The for sale sign amused us it said "no goodwill" We stopped for lunch about a 1kbefore the village at the Daintree Tea House Restaurant which was very nice and very posh. You could tell it was classy by the 7 chips Joe got with his meal, the background music which was opera and the cold wet flannel infused with tea tree the waitress brought when she cleared our main course. The food was delicious and Joe raved about his 7 chips but I can't endorse that because he wouldn't let me try one..We decided against a river cruise looking for crocodiles as we did similar cruises in the Northern Territory 2 years ago. An early start tomorrow for the trip to Cooktown.

Graham Jackie says you should try to visit the chinese Joss house while in Cooktown, she hasn't seen it but heard good reports.
