Sunday 11th July
Paluma finally in spite of the light rain.Pauma village is at the end of a 10 mile steep road.At the bottom is the Big Chrystal Creek Paradise waterhole and it lives up to its name, it is beautiful probably one of the best views in Queensland.Further up is Little Chrystal Creek which has a small waterfall and a fine stone bridge the bridge and the road were built in the 1930s by the unemployed, single men got work for six weeks and married men 8 weeks at 2 shilling a day.We ate at the cafe/hotel at the top but decided not to go to the lookouts as the mist had come down. The drive down was breathtaking which means you didn't dare breathe I think I am getting old and have lost my nerve. We are holed up for the night at Bowen with wait for it a sea view. They boast they are 100mts to the beach but forget to mention you have to cross the Bruce highway one of the busiest and dangerous roads in QldTomorrow we have booked in at Gladstone and on Tuesday its foot down for home..
