Thurs. 24th June
We stopped at Cardwell on our way north intending to go on a cruise to Hinchinbrook Island and guess what? There is only one cruise a day but not everyday and of course Thurs was not a day. There wasn't enough to do in Cardwell for a full day although we did spend 2 and half hours there in the telegraph museum and walking along the beach. We saw our first crocodile warning of the trip there although they are estuarine crocs which are not as big or aggressive as the saltwater crocs they do still attack humans.
We headed for Mission beach and are bunkered down in a very nice motel, The Rainforest Motel. Our cabin is one of ten set amongst rainforest well what else would it be?This afternoon we went in search of the cassowary another of Australia's elusive wildlife and no we didn't see any and had to be content taking photos of the road signs saying don't run over them (fat chance) and other signs saying recent crossing here.Probably the only one we will see will be the metal one stood outside our door in our own private rainforest.Mission beach is very pleasant but a day is enough.
Tomorrow we head for Paronella Park which the brochure promises will be a life enhancing experience and was no1 in the RACQs top 150 must do's in Qld.We shall see.

Carole Your cabin in the rainforest is my kind of place. Rob & I just love finding as many as we can in our travels. It looks great. Not that we are as well travelled as you. Maybe one day. Keep safe.
