From Devils Marbles we had intended on stopping at one of the various road houses before Alice. But with each stop we really saw nothing much to hold our interest. We stopped at Whycliffe Well, the UFO capital of Aust. This really was a brief look and one persons weird obsession into alien life and was just a bit too creepy to warrant a night. We pushed on with the idea that a stop at Gem Tree would be the best. This is a caravan park 70km inland off the Stuart Hwy. Had been told it was great for fossicking and a well run park. We arrived here mid afternoon to the temptation of the fish and chip night, so without having to cook dinner we went and collected firewood and sat around our campfire before joining fellow travellers in the billabong bar to eat. We spoke to a nice young couple form Melbourne and Tully chased around another couple of kids. We headed back to camp to toast some marshmallows and try to stay warm by our fire. So it's definitely cold here. We have all succumbed to long pants and shoes and are already realising how acclimatised we had become to the warm.
