Sigh... my last blog from Rome. I had a thoroughly enjoyable last day.
A couple of things I highly recommend doing on one's last day (if any of you are thinking of coming to Rome):
- sleep till midday
- enjoy a continental/european breakfast - i highly recommend the espresso over here!
- take a wander through the Villa Borghese or sit and read a book on one of the benchs next to the pond (my current book is "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon - very good!)
- go shopping on the Via del Corso - Rome's most expensive shopping street (if you have no monies, window-shopping is awesome fun, especially when it comes to the Armani, Prada, D&G stores!)
- eat pizza on the Spanish Steps and watch all the Japanese tourists snapping pictures
- buy an ice-cream and sit at the Trevi Fountain, before tossing a coin in to "ensure your return to Rome" - possibly the best money-making scheme the council invented!
- finish your day by watching the sunset in St. Peter's square at the Vatican
Now I have to finish packing, which should be an impossible feat considering my new purchases after a bout of retail therapy... I hope Phil has room in his case. Speaking of him, I wonder where he is... he's still not back from Vesuvius.
