Our first full day got off to an early start. Becky an I had grabbed about 7 hours sleep and as we were up decided to head to the restaurant by reception for breakfast. On offer was the standard fair to be expected. I of course ate almost all the different types of eggs available during my three plate serving. Becky opted for a much lighter approach to the most important meal of the day.
We set off to explore the resort as we were still quite confused from getting the golf cart up from the main reception the night before.
The area that we are in seems to have been a separate hotel until recently. There it has its own bar and restaurant. Swimming pool and daytime poolside bar.
It is only a short walk of about 4/5minutes to the beach, cutting through the perimeter fence. We jumped down on to the beach via some very questionable steps and walked along by the sea. After a look around reception by decided to skip the TUI welcome meeting, & instead walked around the main pool. This took us to barefoot bar which has tables set so you can look out to sea & grab a drink.
Further along the beach and complex is a beach side bar and snack buffet. We grabbed some lunch here by the ocean in a very tranquil spot.
We headed back to the room to regroup and plan our activities for the afternoon. Barefoot bar felt like an obvious choice. Rather ambitiously we moved onto some spirts. Vodka & orange fanta for me and rum and coke for Becky. It was difficult to judge the heat as down by the beach the wind keeps you very cool. After a few drinks there we decided that we best go in search of some shade. We moved along to the comfy chairs of the beach bar before going back to our room to get ready for dinner.
This was where we encountered our first major problem. We aimed to sit out on our balcony and play cards but right next to our room seemed to be some kind of utility room for the hotel. The noise it made was louder than any passing aircraft that flew by. This made it impossible for us to enjoy the balcony. Any daytime siestas would also be out of the question. After taking a walk around the paths I realised that any other room must be better than ours. Becky and I spoke to reception who agreed we could move the next day.
Pre dinner drinks in our poolside bar allowed us to meet an older couple from Yorkshire who we chatted to for sometime, probably having more drinks than we intended before dinner.
Dinner was at the terrace restaurant which is part of the main building where we got dropped off. We sat on the patio with a lovely view. Becky stated she was tired and would prefer to head back to our complex for a night cap. Upon our return she gained a second wind which sadly I didn’t share! We stayed up until midnight by which time the Night manger who greeted us, had started his shift & we realised it was probably time for bed. Had we gone to bed any earlier sleep would have been impossible as whatever machinery they have in that unit wasn’t turned off until then.
