I started the day early with a spot of Sunbathing by our pool. It was particularly sunny but the best the day had to offer. We both had breakfast together, then returned to the pool area. Our plan since we arrived was to have a walk into Kardemena. Today the weather provided the best opportunity to do so. It took about 30 minutes to get there along the beach road. Being on the lookout for coaches in the early stages of the walk. Kardemena used to be a small fishing village with Taverna’s offering their food to largely British visitors. This explains the number of British/Irish bars in the area. Now though it is a cosmopolitan crowd with some of the larger hotel groups opening up on the edge of the village. The small Main Street had numerous shops selling everything you can imagine. The main area by the harbour and the beach was lined with restaurants and bars with people outside trying to entice you in. After walking around the village, we stopped for a cocktail in the main square to watch the world go by. On the way out of town we stopped for a nice glass of wine in Casa Rosso a traditionally more Greek place. This overlooked the beach and the sea. Despite being right on the main road into town was a lovely quiet spot to sit and relax. Back at the hotel we grabbed a bite in the snack restaurant before a spell on the beach. Becky and I moved to the arcade to play basketball, and nearly injured ourselves! Obviously I won but didn’t break any records. As we were now well into the afternoon it was time to go to our pool bar. This evening we had dinner out at the Italian. The food was good but it was a buffet service and the only real difference was that drinks were brought to your table. While we were in here it started to rain the first we had seen this trip. Post dinner drinks were had playing uno in the main bar, before the customary night cap in our bar.
