Fitness Friday saw me up and out on a run. Which was fine until I hit the main road. Me Versus the number of coaches speeding past sent me quickly back to the quiet beach road. Post run it was time to hit the beach in a similar spot to the day before. The wind kept us cool as we lay in the sun. I managed to venture into the sea up to my knees but the rocks really put you off trying to get in any further. Becky spotted that they have tried to lay some white stones to take you out into deeper water. With my balance though I’m not sure I could even stand on one.
As ever we grabbed lunch in the snack bar by the sea. Our staple of meat and kebab. Will be strange going back to normality not having this view for lunch each day.
Of course our day would not be complete without our afternoon by the pool with Nigel and Marguerite. We all heavily got involved in a few rounds. Leaving ourselves very little time to get ready for our 19:30 table reservation in the Greek Taverna.
This part of the hotel has been done out like a small Greek suburb. Becky described the square as being straight out of Mama Mia. Blue wooden shutters complement the white walled buildings. The square had lights draped across it. It was all very picturesque. Then we arrived. Or reservation allowed us the best out door table that afforded a view of the ocean through the archway. We both had a glass of wine, much nicer than any on offer so far this week. An array of hot mezze starters were served and all very good. I should know as I ate over two thirds of them. We had both chosen a salad. Fish for me and well standard salad for Becky. We both didn’t finish our salads and when the main courses arrived I knew Becky was going to be in trouble. By this stage, Nigel and Marguerite were a table over from us & witnessed Becky become the pied piper of the Atlantica hotel. My main was of course a fish platter that I throughly enjoyed. Becky not a big eater at the best of times, had no hope of finishing her meat. I tried some, but was too full. Becky then spotted a small black and white cat. “Rafa” she called it & gave him some food from her plate. No sooner had the food left the plate, four further cats appeared in search of a tasty morsel. I explained that the other dinners may not wish to have cats running around them while they ate. Becky agreed and set off with food in hand with five cats following her around the little Greek part of the hotel. Soon she was back and Rafa, was being given priority treatment over the other cats. This struck a cord with an English girl we knew from round the pool and she started feeding the cats. I took a quick bathroom break. Upon my return her fella had joined in. So much for a sophisticated Greek night out! The night then turned dark. No, don’t worry worried readers, we didn’t pass out. The cat feeding couple correctly pointed out there were a lot of flies around the lights. The manager agreed, and turned out the lights. So we sat in semi darkness for 15mins, until light was restored and the flies gone. Great magic trick. I finished dinner with some lovely Baklava. Becky headed back while I popped along to get a feel of the atmosphere in the main bar. I tried one sip of Nigel’s Atlantica cocktail and that was enough to send me home to bed!
