Wet and warm today.
A quick cycle ride beside the river and then the relatively short journey to Amboise. Checked in to the municipal campsite on l'Ile d'Or an island in the middle of the Loire right in the centre of the picturesque town.
Nice lady on reception at this well organised campsite. Was surprised to find that it only cost 11euros a night.
I enjoyed a delicious plat du jour of tender slow cooked lamb.
Visited Le Clos Luce which was the home of Leonardo da Vinci for the last three years of his life. Walking round the restored house was tough for me as dogs had to be carried and Sacha weighs nearly 10 kilos. Right at the beginning there was a steep spiral staircase which finished me off before I had started. Also the place was full of noisy school groups. So I couldn't fully appreciate the rooms.
However it was fun walking around the gardens where there full scale models of some of his inventions like flying machines, a proto automobile, swing bridge, parachute, paddle boat and more.
The next quest was to find a MacDonalds for the wifi. Well it must be the least advertised MacD's ever. It took me ages and miles to find and then it was only a drive through. There was one parking space just next to the drive through so I parked there and put my new blog out although it would not go on Facebook so will have to do that later. By then it was rush hour for the drive through and I couldn't get out for ages. What a performance just to get onto the Internet.
By now it was 8pm and pouring with rain. So I cooked on the induction plate which was in the van with me standing outside but bending over with my bottom sticking out in the rain.
The cover image is a sculpture of Leonardo da Vinci and Sacha. It is a nude but his genital area is particularly shiny!
