Leaving Sault St Marie we drove down the trans Canada highway. This was not particularly interesting at first but it did become so later . We stopped off in Sudbury and then found places off the road to stop. The road has very few stopping places and even all the rest stops are closed for the winter which seems rather mad !!!!! Then you can't find even a pull off to take a break . We drove through the centre of Ottawa and then north east towards the mountain resort of Mont Tremblant . This was a very pretty run and the roads were quiet
We finally met up with Alexander on the Sunday evening . He arrived from Morocco and then started work the next day!! We spent the evening with him and his team and then we were offered a free room in his 5 star hotel which suited us fine!!!! We had breakfast with him and he started work at 8 am!!!
Leaving Mont Tremblant, a very up market ski resort where the hotels cost at least £100 per night! We headed for Toronto. Terry's uncle and aunt live in Norwood a small town north east of Peterborough which is about 2 hours from Toronto.
They were so welcoming and we really enjoyed our time with them. The weather was so cold outside and it was lovely to be fed and cosseted and kept so warm!!!!
We went to the locks in Peterborough and looked at the local lake.
We decided to move on on Friday and we drove down to Niagara Falls. It was snowing so having checked the price at the local campsite we decided to check into a hotel which only cost about 10 dollars more! This was in the centre so we could walk to the falls . They are all lit up in the evening so it was really nice to wander along and see them.
We went to the I max theatre and watched a film about the history of the falls which was interesting too.there was also a museum with lots of the devices used by people who have attempted to go over the falls .
We will potter south now and head generally towards Gettysburg to see the battlefields . At least today it is much much warmer and we aren't huddled trying to keep warm!!!!
