We seemed to rush through Panama, mainly because it didn't stop raining!!!!
it appeared to be a very americanised country, there were huge malls popping up and we saw lots of Mcdonalds . It was strange to be able to use a card to pay for things, it is a long time since we could pay for the petrol with one. There were lots of retired Americans with holiday homes there and we heard more American than Spanish being spoken.
We crossed the border on Sunday , it was a real pantomime!!!! we had to get photo copies of all the documents as they were being given to us and this included the stamp that had just been put in the passport. This necessitated 4 separate trips to the shop which did the photocopying, each time walking across the border and back again. Finally they sprayed the vehicle as we left and we had to pay and have the receipt photocopied too!!! It was hilarious
Here in costa rica it has continued to be wet but luckily it has stopped today and we have been in the national park which meant that we walked for 9 mms along the coast. It was nice but the mosquitos were huge and all around us! Ugh!!!
Hopefully we will get to see lots of things in the next few days as we will leave the coast and head inland to the cloud forest at Monteverde.
At least it is very warm and we can't complain at being camped by the beach with the sound of the waves to send us to sleep .
We found out this morning that we have gained 1 hour, this means that we were in bed at 8 last night and up at 6 this morning!!!!!!!
It is very Caribbean here with reggae music and lots of colours on the buildings. Everyone is very friendly but the prices are high which is a shock! A meal out costs about£8 which is amazing.
