Our first quick stop is a sports shop out of town for a cricket hat for Foxy. Cricket hat purchased, he is a happy bunny in the sun!

Back to Airlie Beach for the last time, for a coffee and the lagoon! The (man-made, stinger-croc-tropical-nasties-free) lagoon is like any waterhole in the natural kingdom... A place for animals (in this case, the younger backpackers and "schoolies") to hunt and mate. We narrated it Attenborough-style! But it's also a beautiful place to swim, and a lovely place to wallow in the water and keep cool :)

Feeling sufficiently relaxed, we shower off and hop in the car for the short 2hr drive down to Mackay. This is described in the guidebooks as "famously unexciting" and it certainly lived up to that!

Tonight's airbnb is lovely - a self contained apartment/room with kitchen and laundry too. A quiet evening planning, apart from when we set off the fire alarm in our airbnb, while we were making our ratatouille for dinner (#middleclassproblems)...
