A decent sleep from our air bnb... Was a good idea to sleep here whilst we're getting our RV bearings... We were still knackered. In the end, we left around 10ish. Back to Brisbane for a day of errands.
First, back to Jucy campers as they didn't give us camping chairs the first time. Naughty Jucy!
Armed with camping chairs that were rightfully ours ( we paid for them dammit), we endured a slightly fraught drive back into Brisbane - as it was hard to avoid the toll roads.
Parking on the Southbank, for just $5 (we think the machine got it hopelessly wrong... We were expecting $20), we feel it's nice to return. However, it was now the height the day, and the sun was quite incredible. The RV thermostat read 34 degrees....
Now we divided to conquer. Alex walked an hour into town and back to refund the Go Cards. Got $70 back for the trouble, so defo worth it! Alice hung around the Southbank Christmas markets to meet Hanna, a drop bear adventurer, to claim back her iPhone charger cable (worth a pretty penny, also).
To cool down we then drank peach iced tea, sold by a Dutchman, whilst observing the high percentage of Brisbanders eating fried things in the heat. Seriously??
instead, we had a cold sandwich and wrap. So British!
Once Alice had her iPhone charger in her hands, we left the bizarre spectacle of a Xmas market in 30 degree plus heat and drove out of Brisbane for the last time, heading straight for our first RV stop... just 40 mins away.
We had picked a free site from Alex's paid camping app, and were the second RV to arrive. On first sight, it was lovely. Although there were no showers, the fact that there was no sand was blessed relief! In fact, we're both in strong agreement that the Fraser Island experience has 'toughened' us up a bit as for living it rough is concerned. Who needs showers anyway?! (...)
Popping next door to the site, we grab dins from Woolies, cook a simple soup on our outdoor hob (novel!), have a cup of tea, and then retire to bed.
A new chapter of this adventure has begun! To Sydney!!
