Checked out of our airbnb and (obviously) went to find coffee in Peregian Beach.
A quick paddle for me in the gorgeous sea, before we test out the driving range at Peregian Golf Course. We thwacked 100 balls in the general direction of the markers (plus some extra freebies we found by the tees) for the bargain price of $12 (£6). We were fairly rubbish... but it was good fun in the sun, and I'm sure we provided some entertainment for those eating lunch in the Clubhouse! Shwetty.
Having earned ourselves some lunch, we drive to Sunshine Beach for tapas and a drink at Marble Bar Bistro, a guidebook recommendation. Another paddle on another beach (it's a hard life) before we head off to Petrie and our final Airbnb before Brisbane. As much as we've loved driving down the coast, I think we're both looking forward to staying in the same place for a whole week. And Foxy's missing city life!
The drive itself was a little frustrating. When we spoke to Marion and Tom about speed limits yesterday, they implied that there is little or no leeway given for speeding (we'd rather been assuming that over by up to 10% was probably fine...). So, better late than never, we are setting our cruise control for the speed limit and sticking to it. This feels very slow when other cars are zooming past! We also agreed that this is when driving becomes more dangerous, simply because if everyone's driving at exactly the same speed on the motorway, your view never changes, the drive becomes very boring, and you risk losing concentration. Luckily this won't be a problem when we're driving the camper from Brisbane to Sydney - I doubt we'll get anywhere near the speed limit in one of those!
A mini diversion to Redcliffe en route provided some entertainment in the form of Alice in Wonderland murals, next to a gym run by a Mr Ali Fox - who clearly loves being "A Fox" as much as Foxy does!
A slightly more exciting final stretch of our drive takes us over a bridge, driving into the sunset. The classic pasta and pesto for dinner tonight (Meatfree Mondays) and chilling under the fan in our room.
