A traveling day today, as we journeyed up to Noosa on public transport (shudder).
A filling brunch to fortify us for this epic journey first; probably our best breakfast so far (and that's really saying something in Australia - they bloody love brunch). Having left our cool bag, Brendan, with our kind Airbnb hosts Stephanie and Igor, we get the bus in to Central Station in town, and then a train to Nambour (2 hrs in the Quiet Coach, which was quiet until someone brought their 3 children into the coach. Children do not belong on a quiet coach! We were having a very civilised read of our books until they started kicking the back of our chairs...), followed by a bus to Noosa Junction (1hr 15) and a final bus to our hostel, to minimise walking with our heavy backpacks.
Tired and hungry, Foxy forgoes his afternoon nap to venture forth into the baking heat on search of food and drinks (thank you Al F). We walk to Sunshine Beach via an off-licence to pick up some classy box wine for our camping trip to Fraser Island tomorrow. At Sunshine Beach we enjoy a drink on the grass at the local Surf Lifesaving Club, with a view of the beach, followed by dins. The drinks are very cheap ($6/£3 each) and the locals seem to be making the most of it - it's very lively when we first arrive!
We walk back to our hostel admiring the stars which seem particularly visible in the night sky. We're looking forward to stargazing tomorrow with minimal artificial light on Fraser Island - if it's a clear night it should be beautiful! We pack for our trip and get an early night before our early start tomorrow morning.
