A restless night with one ear open expecting the sound of crashing chandelier....but it was still hanging. A late start today. John stayed at home while we went north towards Poitiers. Stopped for a break at St Savin. Very pretty views of Abbey by the river. Went to local corner-store for a fresh loaf of pain, jambon, frommage and petite tomates, which we consumed down by the river.

Headed through more fields of wheat, corn and sunflowers. Harvesting and hay-making is in full swing. Came to medievil town of Chauvigny. Hill-top village is still occupied with parts of the castle over 1000 years old!

Then continued on to Poitiers to find a McDonalds so we could book some accommodation for Paris for next week. Didn't stop for a look round.
