Hola,
Im amazed at how poorly my spanish is coming along, im hoping il pick it up faster when im on the road and cant rely on other people. But anyway, the weeks here seem to be flying by, im having trouble even trying to remember whats happened this week. Im starting to get into the routine of things here and so because exciting things happen everday i just dont notice them anymore. My friend made an Indo board (balancing board) which i have spent most my free time on as its good fun and will apparently help me when i learn how to surf and sandboard. I managed to do a 180 on it which has been a highlight of the week hehe. Ive currently lost my camera, which im quite annoyed about, i cant understand where it could have gone but i really hope i find it.
A new activity that i had to do was train the animals. This included giving the Macaws exercise by waving them up and down on a stick to make them flap their wings. I also had to take the Ocelot (wild cat) for a walk. It was not in a good mood that morning, and i got the brunt of it. A few extra scratches in my hand add to my injury list. I had to let the cat go at its own speed, but unfortunately for me it was in a running around crazy mood so i was being dragged through the jungle paths by this cat that would enjoy taking ´shortcuts´ off paths and through bushes, where i had to follow. Think i ended up with a whole tree stuck in my hair by the end of it all.
Im also the resident hairdresser here at Taricaya, ive cut a number of my friends hair, and a Donkeys. Didnt really expect to come to the jungle to cut a donkeys hair.
for our weekly leanring, we went on a medicinal walk. Eugenio (peruvian) showed us all the differnet trees and what they can be used for. So if anyone gets bit by a snake i know what root will help slow the poison. (you never know could come in handy one day) Along the walk eugenio found a Rainbow Boa snake. he just stuck his hand in the hole and pulled it straight out (nutter) we all got photos and stroked it. Still hasnt hit me that these animals are just walking around or slithering around. I mean i go for a run everyday along a path just as something to do in my lunch break and i could easily just cross paths with some scary animal.
Its two of my friends Birthdays (Chris and Alex) this weekend so we made a cake and have had little parties. unfortunately Chris is pretty ill at the mo so thats a shame. We were suppose to be sleeping up on the canopy tonight so he´d wake up on top of the jungle for his birthday, that would be a memorable birthday i think. We´ll see how he´s feeling tonight.
Well i may not be coming into Puerto next weekend to try and save some money so my next entry may not be for 2 weeks, but we´ll see. Shall keep you all updated though.
Lots of Love Em xx
