Emilie's Travels
Hey ho,
Highlight of the week was going on a Camen hunt on Tuesday night. Stuart the man who set up the project im on, is a specialist, so we all went during the night in the boat and searched for Camen. Took several attempts as you can only catch them when they are on land otherwise they become to strong, as they can use their tails in the water. As they heard the boat approaching they would dart into the water. After a couple of hours Stuart managed to catch one. Very strong and bigger than ones he would usually catch so we wern't allowed to hold it. The most amazing thing about that night was the stars. Sailing in the amazon with thousands of clear stars above is just breath taking, such a shame you cant actually take photos of them.
We have a new addition to our animal enclosures, a night monkey. She was a pet before but then was just thrown out so we are taking her in and then will hopefully release her in the future.
The weather here changes so fast, i came into Puerto on Thursday as my task was to collect wood from a shop (i also wanted to see 3 of my friends off at the airport as they were leaving the project). It was so hot and sunny so we sat round the pool, then an hour later it completely chucked it down. The next day it was still raining so we couldn't do our activities for the day.
I've already started to change my itinerary. Ive booked my flight to New Zealand for the 30th Dec, as ill be travelling around south america with Joel and he changed his flight for the 30th. It means we'll cross the international date line on new years eve, so we completely miss it. I land in NZ on the 1st Jan. At least it will be a new years to remember.
Anywho i should hopefully get my photos on today, i know i keep promising them but you have no idea how complicated it is to do here.
Bye for now, its great hearing from you all on my message board !!
