well i managed to get everything sorted that was wrong on wednesday. i got a new ISICard so that will get me discount at Machu Pichu. At lunchtime we caught a bus for 30p to the town of Pisac. Only took an hour and as soon as we got there it was time to do some serious shopping. The town is famous for its peruvian markets. managed to get some excellent bargains for myself and for presents. The people of the stalls see that you are a tourist and charge ridiculous prices, but you just have to be firm and stick at a price you want it for.
On the friday me, phil and joel got up nice and early to do a hike up some mountain. Sarah was feeling really ill so she just stayed behind. itwas a 5km walk but it was all up very still hill and with the alltitude it is soo hard to breath, we got out of breath just after the first 100m. The guys found it just as hard so i felt a bit better. The walk was zig zagging across old inca terraces and then it made its way up to the top where an inca citadel lies. at the top we all put our Inca Kola tshirts on (we all bought matching one off the market) and we took a picture. Any famous site we go to we plan to have Inca Kola moments, just for the photoalbum.
it took a total of 4 hours, much much easier coming downhill. The rest of the day we spent travelling. catching many buses through the towns of Urubamba then on to Ollantaytambo, which is where there was a huge inca ruin built into the side of a cliff, its where they stored food products. Hung around there till 8 at night which when we got our train to the town at the bottom of Machu Pichu. 2hours long. Ollantaytambo is the half way point between Cusco and Machu Pichu. All the backpackers where on the same train as its a little cheaper, still very expenisve but defo werth it. As soon as we pulled up in Aguas Calliente we ran off the train and beat everyone to the plaza so that we could get a cheap room.
