Had a great day today!! Took the water bus to S. Marco Square and wandered around the area during the morning. Took our walking tour for a couple of hours and had an interesting gondola ride with our new friends from Germany and Sydney!!!
Bwian and I weren't sitting together so it didn't quite meet our expectations of a romantic gondola ride. Bwian started singing 'O Sole Mio', but hadn't learnt the words so that was also a source of amusement for me!!! I told him he should have been more thorough in his preparation and research!!! Despite that it was a lot of fun, especially as we made our way through the narrow and quiet canals, far from the madding crowd!! Bwian managed to embark and disembark quite well considering how rocky it was!! No one landed in the drink, even when Frau Schmidt moved across and the boat rocked and she got yelled at by the gondolier, and then I leaned to take a well framed photo of her family and my unsecured little stool slipped and I landed on my behind on the floor of the gondola!!! I am so p___ elegant!! Great ice breaker!! Made for some good laughs with our new traveling companions!! Dinner is again in another restaurant near our apartment that has wifi. Tomorrow we traverse that stone bridge again (with our luggage) and make our way by train to Rome. Hopefully we can retain the services of a registered porter to assist!! Have loved being here and enjoyed the charm of the place! Hopefully we have wifi at our hotel in Rome! Ciao!! Xxx
