Had a great day today. Bought a 2 day water bus pass so went to the islands, as we planned. We first went to The Lido, the ritzy beach area. Caught a bus and then went for a walk to the beach. Found an interesting beach and had a wander and a paddle in the Adriatic Sea!! Hooray. The place had little rows of beach shacks and we were the only ones dressed!!! Everyone else was only in togs, no hats, no shoes, the usual beach wear. Thought it was quaint!! THEN, on the way out, found out it was a PRIVATE beach that we'd crashed, and we didn't even get kicked out!!! Hilarious!!! Bloody Australian tourists!!!! From there we went off to Murano, the place where they make the world famous glass products! Has a wander and spent €8 on a coke and water. Clearly it was very special!!! Bougt a few trinkets, 'cos we couldnt resist (nothing like Marj's large pieces though!!!) Again it was stinking hot, but spectacular out on the water. So beautiful gazing at the amazing scenery along the canals. This afternoon we came back to the apartment for a little siesta and then out again in the late afternoon. We've been for another wander and are now in a restaurant with wifi!!! Hooray again!! Found some excruciatingly hilarious street signs, some of which we can share!!!! Tomorrow St Marco's Square and its surrounds!! Love this place and would love to be able to share it with our family and friends!! Ciao!! Xxx
