Just passing through a lock now. This is the view from our window (there's a small ship next to us on the way up!) We'll pass through 57 locks apparently over the 2 weeks!!! That's alotta up and downs!!!! :-) xx

Melk is a beautiful little town of just over 2000 people. There is little there other than the abbey and a little cobbled main street with a few shops and cafes. This 1000 year old monastery/school/church is quite incredible, having been fully restored over the past 30 or so years. Just pulling into Melk. A picturesque trip along The Danube from Vienna this morning. Pretty villages, lots of vineyards, some castle ruins and a very peaceful and cool journey on the deck. Finally we are out if the searing heat!! Hooray!!! Xx

What a beautiful day and a very special night! After a light early dinner we made our way to the Palais Auersperg in the city. It is s gorgeous palace built in 1706 and actually the place (and even the room!!!) where Mozart, the Strausses and other upcoming musicians honed their skills in their early days!! A 10 piece chamber orchestra played throughout the evening and were joined by a couple of ballet dancers from time to time and also a couple doing operetta...
