After leaving Hervey bay on saturday we arrived in Noosa yesturday afternoon. It is a very classy area on the Sunshine coast and amongst the backpackers are wealthy australians on holiday and some very nice houses. The main reason for this stop was so we could go to Australia Zoo (Steve Irwins Zoo) today. We caught the free shuttle bus which took 50minutes to get to the Glasshouse mountains where the zoo is. The zoo started off as a reptile park and is home to many crocs that steve and his Dad captured. Therefore most of the animal are crocs, snakes etc as well as all the typical australian animals. There is a new Tiger and Elephant enclouse and there are going to expant the zoo too include all the other continents. We first got there we saw the HUGE totoises being fed then the girls had there photo taken with a koala, (going to do that back in Sydney zoo) and then we went to hand fed an elephant!! he was a bit slobbery but seemed to enjoy the food!!! Next we went to sit in the Crocoseum (a big arena where the memorial for Steve was held if u saw any of the photos on tv) to see the snake show, native bird show and the croc show. the snakes wer horrible, the birds were amazing and the croc seemed hungary!! After lunch near the koalas we went and walked around the rest of the zoo, saw kangaroos, wombats, birds, saw the elephants in their enclosure and saw the beautiful tigers playing with their keepers. Finished walking around the zoo in time for the 3.50pm bus back to Noosa. Steves pictures are still all over the signs in the zoo and the keepers talk a lot about him.
On Monday before getting on the bus at 3pm we went to the Sunshine beach which had some big surf. Can see the dangers on the rip currents in the sea and wont be venturing in without lifeguards present. headed to Brisbane and arrived at our hostel at 7pm after being stuck in a traffic jam!!
