After a few days resting and exploring Cairns today i went to Kuranda. THis is a small town up in the hills and rainforest not far from Cairns. I took the sky rail over the rainforest to Kuranda. THis took around 1 hour including me getting of a one station to do a small walk through the rainforest. THe sky rail is a great way to see the rainforest. From the sky u can see so far and the scale of the rainforest is immense. i had a few spare hours in Kuranda and looked around the markets and shops. It is definatly aimed at tourists now as the shops are mainly touristy ones. I did an hours walk through the rainforest and saw some beautiful butterflies and parrots.  I then boarded the Scenic railway train back to Cairns. This took 1 hr 45 to get to Cairns as it travels along the edge of the mountains looking over the gorge. We stopped at Barron FAlls to take pictures of the waterfall which was fairly small as its the dry season. WE drove past al the rainforest and could see the sky rail in the distance. It is a beautiful journey both ways and a fantastic way to see the rainforest.
