I went on a three day trip to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree RainForest. The rainforest in world heritage listed and is 100's of millions of years old and the only place in the world where two world heritage sites meet. (the other being the great barrier reef) On the way up we did a river cruise on the Daintree river to spot some crocs, but only saw a small one and a small tree snake. Then we went for a walk throught the rainforest with our guide pointing out various trees and ferns. I then got dropped at my accoamdation which is the Ferntrees Rainforest lodge. The rooms were surrounded by rainforest. i went for a walk to Cape Trib beach, with white sands and nealy turquise seas and walked to the lookout for a better view. I then walked back along Myall Beach to my room.
THe next day i walked to Myall beach and did the walk through the rainforest and mangorves hoping not to come across a cassowary (the 3rd largest bird and can attack humans) or snakes!! LAter i treated myself to a massage!!!
On the last day the sun finally came out probably and was able to sit by the pool while waiting for my lift back. ON the way back we stopped at Alexander Lookout for views back over to CAirns and at Mossman Gorge. IT was raining by the time we got here (the problems with rainforests) so just did a small walk around the gorge and missed the swim!! WE also stopped at Port Douglas which is an upmarket port town. GOt back to Cairns where it was still raining. BUt had a very peaceful weekend.
