Deborahs journey
Hong Kong has so many different areas that you could think you were in a different country. In Kowloon there is Nathans road which goes on forever and ever. They have squeezed as many 'shops' in here as possible with big flashy signs, too many people and very tall skyscrapers. At the end of Nathans road you enter the waterfront o Kowloon which is more modern and has fantastic veiws across the harbour (see picture) Lantau island is more mountainous and forest. The bus ride to the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monestary goes along these windy roads, the bus even pulls over every so often to let the traffic behind pass. The Big Buddha is huge and dominates the skyline, it is just places in the middle of the mountians near the monestary with a few 'souvenir stalls'. The smell of incense here is overwhelming as everyone buys bundles of incense and lights them in the big fire and puts next to it. In the afternoon i got the peak tram up to the highest point on hong kong island. The ride up is very very steep. The view up the top should be amazing but when i went u could only see the nearest towers and not across the harbour to the others, a bit disappointing but still great views of what i could see. In the evening went to Kowloon waterfront to watch the 'Symphony of Lights' the worlds biggest free light and sound show. The tall building lights up with lasers across the harbour, good but the cloud hid some of the lasers. Today i am going on a harbour cruise to see further around the two harbours and take yet more photos.
