Deb's Adventures
We decided that we needed to get out of the house today and go do some local fun stuff. I looked online for free things to do in Fort Collins and the botanical garden and a sculpture zoo came up. So we all piled into the car for a family outing.
Our first stop was a new organic vegan restaurant that I have been really excited to try. Turned out to a bit of a disappointment. The food was pretty good but the service was mostly awful. The owner of the restaurant was a grumpy guy and everyone working there seemed unhappy. We tried it, but I can't say we will ever go back.
Next on the list was the Botanical Garden. The temperature was well into the 90's by now but we decided to walk about anyway. Although the gardens are small they were very well done and had a great variety. They also grow a lot of food that they donate to the food bank. We thought that was cool. I found out they offer cooking classes too. Maybe next summer I will try to participate in some classes.
We left the garden and dragged Eric to Big Lots and Target. The shopping portion of our day was quick and then we ventured down the road.
Our final stop before heading home for dinner was the Swetsville Zoo. This is not an ordinary zoo with animals. It is a sculpture zoo. The sculptures are mostly made out of car and boat parts with some random other weird items added in. We have been driving past this place for 15 years and have never stopped. It was absolutely worth the visit. I will let the pictures tell the story.
We headed back to the house for a quick dinner. We had a beautiful sunset during dinner and the hummingbirds put on a show for us. We have also been watching a young man learn to windsurf in the evenings. He shows up every night around 6pm. After dinner we made some popcorn and all piled back into the van to go to the Drive In Movie Theater. We watched Despicable Me 2. So funny. It was a beautiful night to sit outside and drink a glass of wine and laugh....a lot.
