Deb's Adventures
My day began at 4:30am this morning. I finished loading the car and got on the road at exactly 5am. My goal today was to drive 800 miles and end at my Grandma's house in Columbia Missouri. 40 miles into my drive it began to snow. It quickly turned into blizzard conditions with accumulation of about 2 inches. I was driving right into the heart of the storm and it was still dark. Fortunately I have new tires and the traffic was light and moving at a reasonable pace. The storm lasted for the next 100 miles. So, there I was 3 hours into my trip and I was already an hour behind. Luckily it cleared up quickly and the traffic remained light and I was able to make it to Columbia in 12 hours. With the time change, I got Hagrid to the kennel 25 minutes before they closed.
Many of my friends and family have questioned me as to why I am driving to Maryland from Denver to get to Australia. The answer to that is that I have a 2 year old Black Lab named Hagrid who is going to my Mom's house otherwise known as "Camp Cathy" for 3 months while we travel. She has 3 dogs and a big fenced in yard and lives in Maryland. Hagrid will be very happy and very well cared for there. Going to Maryland before and after my Australian Adventure also gives me the chance to visit with friends and family on the East Coast.
My favorite part of today was when my Ipod randomly played "Going Down The Road Feeling Bad" into "Getting Jiggy with it". Gotta love Radio-Deb. This will give you a hint as to how bored I was driving in a straight line across 3 states for 12 hours straight. I am sure that this was not the most exciting day of this adventure.
