Deb's Adventures
Last night we had tickets to see Dark Star Orchestra at Mishawaka. Dark Star is one of the best Grateful Dead cover bands around and "The Mish" is one of the best places to see a show. The amphitheater sits in the Poudre Canyon on the river.
We decided to head up the canyon early and have a picnic dinner on the river before the show. We ended up with a prime parking spot just outside the front door of the venue. It was a beautiful night. We enjoyed veggie wraps and a couple glasses of wine and watched all the freaky people wondering around.
We sat by the river for a couple hours and then headed in to the show. The first set was amazing. We danced and talked with people. Our friends Dave and Kerry were supposed to meet us inside but never showed. This seemed strange to us since we had talked with Dave just a few hours prior to the show. We never found them but enjoyed most of the second set before we all ran out of energy. At around midnight, after four straight hours of dancing we decided to head home.
As we were leaving a police officer informed us that the road was closed due to a mud slide. That explained Dave and Kerry not making it. We couldn't believe a mudslide had occurred as it never even rained on us. Apparently the weather was great where we were and terrible every where else. Less then a mile away it rained and hailed over an inch in 45 minutes. There were also tornadoes down in town.
We had to take the back way home through Rist Canyon. While driving we encountered shoulders that had been washed away and several spots where the dirt roads had created small mudslides. We made it home safely to find that our breezeway had flooded. This only happens during heavy rains.
I checked my phone to find several messages from Dave telling us they dodged tornadoes and missed the mudslide by 300 feet and had to turn back. They were thankfully safe and sound at home. I also had several messages from friends in Fort Collins asking if we were ok. Apparently while we were dancing the night away in the serene setting of The Mish we happily missed all the excitement. Sometimes it is nice to be oblivious.

Other Mom Howdy, Looks like you are having a good time. We all missed you in MD. I laughed when you recognized the blue plate in the pic of Deb and Sophie. Loved meeting with Clarise and Ryan. Way too much to do in too little time though. Wish we didn't have so many loved ones in one place so far away. Sorry âbout Eric's job. Hope things work out soon. Hang in there. Love from Bill, Gena, Samantha Jane, Flicka and now Amber Lea

Linda Ballou Great photo. Glad you were oblivious-- and SAFE from all those threats surrounding you!
