Deb's Adventures
The last couple days of our road trip were pretty mellow. We had a Pretty lazy morning on Wednesday in Cripple Creek. We all slept in and decided to take our time packing up. We had a beautiful deck on our cottage that overlooked town and the weather was gorgeous. We spent some time relaxing and enjoying the view.
As we were packing up the van Lesley noticed That there were four donkeys on the steps of the church across the street. Apparently there is a pack of wild donkeys that wander around town. They were pretty cute and it was funny how they looked like they were lined up to attend Sunday morning service.
We drove an hour to Colorado Springs and checked into the Embassy Suites. Our suite was pretty awesome and we were all still feeling a bit lazy. We lounged around for a few hours and ate some lunch and played with Lesley and Ray's new computer. Windows 8 is hard.
Around 5ish we made our way to Manitou Springs. This is a really quaint mountain town just outside of Colorado Springs. We wandered around for a couple of hours checking out the shops, the sculptures and the cold spring fed fountains. We had dinner along the river at the Stagecoach Inn and then back to our hotel and called it a day.
Thursday morning we visited Garden of the Gods Park near our hotel. This is a really beautiful spot with weird rock formations that seem to pop up out of nowhere. We walked around for a bit and admired the scenery. It was super busy there so we didn't stay too long. We left the park and drove to the Warwick in Denver where our friend Keith works. We had the most amazing lunch on the patio. Keith, of course, took great care of us.
We drove another hour to Fort Collins and decided we wanted crab legs for dinner. We stopped at the store and stocked up and made it home around 5pm. It was a beautiful night so we sat on the deck and pigged out and regaled our roomie Rebecca with tails from the road.
It was an awesome trip. We are happy to be home.

Linda Ballou Great couple
Linda Ballou Hey, they must think it's Palm Sunday! Their humble ancestor had the special task of carrying Jesus into Jerusalem. I love this photo. It's funny, but sweet, and, to me, anyway, suggestive of that historic day.
Shandelle cute :)
