Deb's Adventures
We woke this morning to rain. The weather forecast predicts rain throughout most of the state for most of the day. It must be a good day for a drive. We are leaving Glenwood and heading South East through Aspen and over Independence Pass to a hot springs resort. We are all excited for some hot pools.
We ate brekkie and started out. The rain showers came and went and came back again. With the cloud covered damp day, came lower temperatures and our Aussie friends were feeling the cold so we mostly enjoyed the scenery from the van.
We made our way through Aspen and to the base of Independence Pass. This is a mountain road that climbs to just over 12,000 feet in altitude. The higher we got, the further the outside temperature dropped. It was beautiful and we managed to get out every once in a while and snap a photo.
At the bottom of the other side of the pass sits a small town called Twin Lakes. We got out to stretch our legs and check out the gallery, the country store, the B&B and the museum. Not much goes on in this sleepy little town so we saw it all in under an hour and we really took our time. They do have one of the largest humming bird populations I have ever seen. We stood in the rain and snapped photos while they buzzed our head.
We continued on to Buena Vista about 25 minutes down the road and found a park to eat our lunch. The rain held off and the skies started to clear and we had another amazing picnic. After lunch Eric decided we needed to take a short detour and see old town. It's a good thing we did because we came across a mule deer hanging out on the front lawn of the town hall. We got some amazing photos.
Another 30 minutes in the van and we arrived at our destination. We checked in and were upgraded from a one bedroom condo to a full on cabin with a loft. Hooray us! Our place was amazing but not as amazing as the hot springs. Because we are overnight guest we have access to the special guest only, adult only hot springs fed pool area. Amazing!!!!
We spent a couple hours soaking in the various pools and sitting in the sauna. After a while we made our way back to our really awesome cabin and made dinner and enjoyed wine and watched the sun go down.

Shandelle I would have loved to see the hummingbirds!
Deb & Eric Glazier The hummingbirds are cool. Every time Lesley hears one she perks up and looks around for it.
Deb & Eric Glazier He was pretty relaxed but we stayed alert and kept a little distance.
Mom Great about the rain, yes? You really need it. Love the deer, and what a great cabin.
