On the way to our next campsite in the Yuraygir National Park on the coast we stopped at a market in Woolgoolga. These small town markets are great. A lot the stuff seems like junk to me but it's generally cheap junk. It's fun looking around for a bargain. It's also a good place to pick up some cheap books and stock up on fruit and vegies.

On arrival at the campsite we noticed a massive lizard (about 1.5m in length) walk out of the scrub and through the campsite. A couple of German tourists started following the lizard to get a photograph when the lizard suddenly turned and charged at them. It was quick but not as quick as the German tourists. Over the next few days we saw a number of lizards and emus walk through the campsite.

Even though we go to be early we still usually manage to sleep in. However, on the first morning we got up early and just managed to catch the end of the sunrise. We followed this up with a walk along the beach. In the morning we drove in to the lovely town Wooli with the beach on one side and the river on the other. We celebrated our action packed morning with a beer at the Wooli pub at 10.45am. Apparently we were the first customers - what a surprise.

In the afternoon I rode the motorbike to the next town north. The only way to get there was along the beach at low tide. There was no other road into town. The town appeared empty but apparently the houses are very expensive because no more can be built. Rich people use them as holiday homes.

The mozzies here are not that bad so we could spend more time outside after sunset. We sat around our first fire for the trip and listened to the radio (Andrew Daddo on Sydney ABC).
