Drove here via Byron Bay. The traffic into Byron Bay was incredible it was banked up for about a km. Lucky for us the traffic jam was in the opposite direction.
The campsite at Massey Green Caravan Park in Brunswick Heads was fantastic - it was right on the Brunswick River. We went for regular swims during the day and combined this with our normal reading, walking and general lazing around. On the first day we were lucky enough to see a dolphin heading inland up the river.
We did have the added bonus of my sister Kris, coming to stay with us for the weekend.Brunswick Heads is only a 2 hour drive from Kris' home in Brisbane.Kris also mentioned that my brother Brendan's mate Bernard "Bogger" O'Gorman lived nearby.I gave him a call and he agreed to come for a BBQ on the Saturday night.
A lavish BBQ at our riverside campsite it was not but a good night was had by the four of us and Bogger invited us to his house the next morning for brunch.Bogger's house was beautiful with a family of green frogs living in the spa and we enjoyed bacon and eggs on the balcony surrounded by lush trees and grass. We left Bogger to some gardening and headed back to the campsite.Later Sunday arvo we had a drink in the Brunswick Heads Hotel before sending Kris back to Brisbane.Left to our own devices again, David and I had dinner at the pub on the huge patio while listening to the band. Live music is always good.
We packed up camp Monday morning and headed north.
