Today was a day filled with magic. I guess you could call it a magical day. We rose pretty early before grabbing a 10 trip pass on pickpocket express ala the metro. We headed out to see La Sagrada Familia, the famous church designed by Gaudi that is taking about 200 years to build. We knew it was right by the metro exit at our stop. It is an imposing structure and would be hard to miss. We stepped out from the underground and the vision of the church was just amaz..... hang on. Where the bloody hell is it? Ahh s***! Wrong friggin stop. So we figured out where we went wrong and jumped back on the train, minus 1 trip, and off to the correct place.
This time we walked back out in to the sunshine and wow! What a sight to behold. It is one of the most amazing pieces of architecture we have ever come across. Even though it is unfinished, completition date about 2026, it is so imposing. We didn't try to get inside as the line was too long so we just enjoyed its presence from every angle. It almost looked like it belonged at Disneyland but not in a bad way.
Following that piece of magic we caught the metro down to the waters edge and decided to get off at the right stop. Jac's ankle was very sore so we wandered slowly along the beach and found a tapas bar for our first taste of tapas in Spain. We have had perfect weather since being here and we enjoyed just sitting in the warmth.
With full bellies we continued to stroll along the beach with the sun on our backs feeling pretty good about life. We had heard of a cinema that screens non dubbed movies and spent the afternoon heading towards it. We treated ourselves to some more magic with a viewing of Harry Potter. Hate to say it but it was a great movie.
After a long session we dropped into the supermarket to grab some stale bread for dinner and headed back home for a quiet night. Our last day in Barcelona tomorrow and I am sort of sad as I really love this city. If only we didn't have an uncomfortable bed and wildlife in our room things would be.... well, magical.
