Another day, another bus ride. But that wasn't until the afternoon. We had both slept pretty crappy, probably too old for dorm rooms I guess. So we had breaky than waited for the morning walking tour, however this was running late so we headed off without wasting anymore time. We thought about the palace but decided on Seville cathedral. It was beautiful and the dominate structure in the city, but the reason we wanted to go is it is the 3rd largest cathedral in the world. We have been to the top 2, St Peters & Pauls, so wanted to be able to say we have been to the top 3. We lined up for a little bit then paid our entry. The good thing we have found about Spain & Portugal is that their entrance fees are just about right. They are not trying to gouge you like a lot of European countries. The cathedral was begun in 1184 and started as a mosque, however it was consecrated as a cathedral in 1248. It has been added to over the succeeding centuries with the last major works completed in 1928. Obviously it is a truly impressive and beautiful structure. We went straight up the tower to look out over Seville, or rather down on Seville as no structure is allowed to be built higher than it in the city. We then went down and explored the innards of the cathedral, which included the tomb of Christopher Columbus. We left very happy with our choice of venues, appreciating just how long this magnificent building has been here, & just how many people throughout the ages have been just as touched as we had. We returned back to our dorm, via a lovely feed of pasta, where we grabbed our packs and wandered to the bus stop. There was 100's of cleaners out to get the city back to being clean and ready for the next night of celebrations. We were sad to leave Seville as we boarded the bus, but still we were excited to be heading to Malaga. The trip was pretty uneventful, although the countryside looks more like we expected Spain to look like with lots of olive trees, rocks and mountains & a desert feel, although pretty green. We arrived at Malaga and the place seemed deserted, owing to Good Friday. We decided to make our walk from the station to our hostel in the middle of town which took about 30 mins. As we got to the centre more and more people were around and the roads were blocked off. We guessed that another procession was going to come through. We eventually arrived at the hostel, which is very charming, and headed back out in time to see the procession as it went right past our hostel. We then made our way in to the centre for a feed & bit of a look around even though we are both exhausted. The town was alive with people but not on the same scale as Seville. As a result it was beautiful to be out, especially in 22 degs weather. It's another beautiful place and is a shame we didn't have more than a few hours to explore. But tomorrow we head off mid morning to grab our campervan. Then we get to see the smaller parts of Spain. The countryside and small villages that we don't normally get to see when traveling. The best thing is, we have our bed with us. So a bit of camping in the Spanish countryside. Pretty excited about that.
