We made our way down to the seal colony this morning and did a nice walk all around the peninsula. We made our way past many cows and many cow pats before coming back along the beach where we had to hurry a little so that we didn't get trapped by the tide. We were back at the van eating some lunch when we bumped into Mark and Lois again, the couple who we had met in Franz Josef about a week ago. This morning the wind and rain had stopped, the sun was out and we were lucky enough to swim with over 300 wild dusky dolphins! All kitted up in out wet suits, masks, boots, hoods, gloves and snorkels we made the plunge from the boat in to what felt like minus degrees waters! We made the drive to the East coast today and then up to Kaikoura. It is a great town set in front of huge snowy mountains and has a rocky coastline that is very popular with Seals and birds. Unfortunatley the wind was rediculously strong when we arrived so after a quick hello to some of the seals we found a place to stay a little out of town, which also had an amazing flying fox that we entertained ourselves with.
