After today's activities we headed off to Taupo only after impossibly trying to find somewhere to fill our gas cylinder. We were just munching some food by the lake when we got speaking to a couple who said there was a free campsite just down the road. We headed off there with them and had a couple of beers and a chat and headed off to bed. Next day was supposed to be a money saving day so we headed off to watch some massive dam that opened every couple of hours. Unfortunately we had forgotten about the daylight saving time kicking in so we were an hour late, luckily so did heaps of other folk so we didn't look totally stupid, we waited around an hour or so for the next one to open. Can't say i've seen a dam open before and I don't think ill be back again to be honest.
Headed back into town, we wanted to do our skydive tomorrow and the Tongariri Crossing, a one day walk, the next day, but the weather for the walk day was rubbish, we headed off to see if we could book our dive for today and do the walking the next day, there were able to fit us in straight away. I thought we'd be there for most of the day doing random stuff, but we pretty much just walked in paid and put on our jump suits and headed off in the plane. Brid and I did a rock, paper, scissors to see who would go first and she lost. I wish I could have gotten a picture of her face when the guy opened the door, again she looked like she was gonna cry, funny as. Brid jumped out and then it was my turn, you were tied in so tight to the instructor that is was uncomfortable, but once you jumped out it wasn't so bad, the guy let me steer the parachute on the way down which was good. We were back in the car about 40mins after we'd gotten in to the shop.
Headed back into Taupo and messed about on the internet before going back to the free campsite to make some food. We met up with the couple again and we're all gonna go and do the Walk tomorrow.
