Woke up and decided to head and see the Kauri Tree's as they were on the way back down to Auckland, they are supposed to be massive. You couldn't really get that near to them so the photos didn't come out to well or show off how big they were. We walked around the forest for a while but it started to rain so we bolted back to the van. Brid decided to drive for a wee bit and something wasn't right with the van, you couldn't even get above 80kph, I thought I was Brids driving so had a go myself and it turned out to be the van. After Brid trying to make me apologize to her for the next 2 hours, we eventually found a garage to stop at. We phoned the rental company and told them about the problem and they told us to head into the garage and see if he could sort it out. Turned out the transmission fluid was leaking out the bottom sump and the clutch packings had gone. We phoned Jucy to tell them the good news, the boy on the phone didn't have much answers, he said we should take the bus back down to Auclkland and get a new van, we told him to bug*er off as we'd bought tons of food and it was their problem not ours. At one point the owner of the garage was shouting at them on the phone, he was the nicest guy even and even tried to give us one of his vans to drive to Auckland. They finally gave in and told us to drive 30km down the road to Dargaville and they'd drive a new van up the next morning. On the way down we drove in past the lakes that were near by and had our tea, I tried for ages to get a hold of a tree swing beside the lake but I would have definitely been in the water if it'd gone for it. We headed off to Dargaville and found a place to sleep for the night.
Next morning and we did some food shopping and bought an iPod car charger, waiting for the jucy guy who turned up around 12. He'd taken some money off our bill so we were happy enough, we also nicked everything that was good out the old van, who ever gets that van next it in for a shock. The new van didn't have central locking which was really annoying but I suppose it'll do. I decided to name the new van Willie Miller the Revenge and we couldn't get rid of the Willie miller name so quickly. We headed down the road and stopped off at the Kauri tree museum which was quite interesting, Brid bought some stuff which she claims to be 'essential'. They don't log the kauri trees anymore so we bought some souvenirs from the gift shop. We realized we'd left a few things in Willie Miller I that we needed so we went back to the rental office so see if we could get them, unluckily it was closed so we decided to stay another night in Auckland and pick them up in the morning.
